About Praise Hymn
  • About Us
Introduced in 1988, Praise Hymn Tracks celebrates two decades of providing music to accompany millions of hymn and contemporary worship singers.  With nearly 5,000 titles, Praise Hymn Tracks has emerged as the No. 1 source for all track buyer's singing needs.  A pioneer in the accompaniment track industry, Praise Hymn was the first track company to introduce the High-Medium-Low format, performances of songs in three keys to accommodate a variety of vocalists.

Now unveiling the new PraiseHymn.com website, a comprehensive source of music and interaction for singers.  Our site offers not only Praise Hymn's catalog of Christian titles, from songs out-of-print to the latest radio hits - both via download and physical product shipping, but also serves as a multi-faceted interactive experience for vocalists both casual and professional.

We are a Christian company committed to both excellence and integrity who first serves our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  We invite all singers to lead the Body of Christ into praising Him.

  • Becoming a Demo Singer
Our producer has a group of singers to record our tracks. If you would like to be considered to sing for our track line, you MUST live in the Nashville, Tennessee area.  Due to the large volume of demos we receive, if you are not from the Nashville area we cannot listen to your demo.  Also, please keep in mind that demos are not returned to you.

    Send demos to:
    Praise Hymn Soundtracks
    ATTN:  Dean Newkirk
    741 Cool Springs Blvd.
    Franklin, TN 37067
  • Recording Custom Tracks
Praise Hymn does not custom record songs. If you have a song you are searching for but do not find it in our catalog, please contact us with the title and we will be sure to consider it for a future release. There are so many wonderful Christian songs it is impossible for us to record them all, but we will gladly consider all suggestions. Please Click here to send your song suggestion to us.
  • Sheet Music / Lead Sheets
Only our Mastertrax titles, Mastertrax Premium Collection titles and Modern Worship titles contain the lead sheet in the CD packaging and full album download.  (However, there are some older Mastertrax titles that we were unable to secure the permission to include lead sheets.  We apologize for this inconvenience.)

A lead sheet is a form of music notation that specifies the essential elements of a song: the melody, lyrics and harmony.   The melody is written in modern Western music notation, the lyric is written as text below the staff and the harmony is specified with chord symbols above the staff.

Praise Hymn, Sound Performance, You Can Sing Gospel, and Tradional titles only have permission from the copyright owners to print the lyrics on the print of the CDs. The lyrics are also included in a full album download.  We do not have permission to print the music.  If you need the printed music, we suggest that you contact your local Christian bookstore to find out if sheet music is available for the song in which you are interested.

Or visit www.brentwood-bensonmusic.com and www.integritypublishers.com to purchase songbooks, musicals, octavos, drama books, videos, hymnals and more.

  • DVD Productions
How do I obtain permission to record a Praise Hymn track to a DVD?

If you would like to record a Praise Hymn track onto a DVD, please fill out the Master Use Request Form after you read the following important information:

The use of a master recording involves two different types of copyright permissions. Both permissions are necessary for a valid 'master use'.  You must obtain permission to use:

    1. The Sound Recording - the rights to which are controlled by a record company or similar production company.

    2. The Musical Composition contained in the sound recording - the rights to which are controlled by the music publisher(s) of the song.

Your completion and submission of the Master Use Request Form does not guarantee that your request will be approved.  You may not proceed with your use of Praise Hymn materials until you receive written confirmation from our licensing department.

The Master Use Request Form covers the use of the Sound Recording only.  You are solely responsible for obtaining permission from the publisher(s) of each song for which a master use license is requested.   Failure to do so shall automatically render the corresponding Praise Hymn master use license invalid. Furthermore, a Praise Hymn master use license should in no way be interpreted as representing any rights to the musical composition itself, which are the sole property of the song(s) music publisher(s).
By completing and submitting the Master Use Request Form, you agree to the terms and conditions stated above.
  • Leasing
    What is leasing?
Leasing is the process that is used to pay a company for the work they have created and/or own.  When it comes to tracks, there are two parties (arranger and songwriter) involved.

The use of a master recording involves two different types of copyright permissions. Both permissions are necessary for a valid 'master use'.  You must obtain permission to use:

    1. The Sound Recording - the rights to which are controlled by a record company or similar production company.  This is referred to as the master lease permission, and in regards to tracks is obtained by receiving permission from the track company.

    2. The Musical Composition contained in the Sound Recording - the rights to which are controlled by the music publisher(s) of the song.  This is referred to as the Mechanical royalty, and is obtained by receiving permission from the publisher(s) of the song.

In this case, Praise Hymn Soundtracks has created the arrangement to songs that songwriters have written.  Anyone who would like to record a song is required by law to obtain permission and/or pay lease/royalties to each perspective party.  LEASING IS NOT REQUIRED IN RECORDING PACKAGES BECAUSE THE USE OF OUR SOUNDTRACKS ARE INCLUDED IN THE PACKAGE PRICE.

FOR MORE INFORMATION on Leasing, please email us at phinfo@pmg-sonymusic.com

How much does a lease cost?

$140.00 unless you need the CD sent to you.  If a CD is needed it is an additional $10.00 which brings the total to $150.00.  You may pay be Credit Card, Check, Money Order, or Cashiers Check.

What track lines can I lease and record?
You can lease and record Praise Hymn, Sound Performance, You Can Sing Gospel, Modern Worship, and Praise Hymn Traditional tracks.   Since the Mastertrax line originates from the original artist master recordings, these tracks are not permitted to be leased or recorded under any circumstances.

Is there a limit to the amount of copies I can make if I lease a song?
Yes, 2,500 copies.  If you wish to record more than 2,500 copies you must re-apply for the lease.

How long does it take to process my lease request?
Once we have received the paperwork and monies due, it will take approximately 7-10 days to process.  You can opt to speed this process up through 'rush' ordering which costs $25.00.

    What is Gratis Permission?
Gratis Permission is a free waiver to anyone who would like to record and make less than twenty (20) copies of a song.  If you go over that limit, you automatically must seek the a Lease permission and pay lease royalties.

For a Gratis Permission form, please email us at phinfo@pmg-sonymusic.com

How can I obtain publisher names and addresses?
Check with the following companies for publishing information: ASCAP (www.ascap.com), SESAC (www.sesac.com), BMI (www.bmi.com), or CCLI (www.ccli.com).

Will the publisher deny my request?
Chances are that will not happen because that is how publishers make money.

  • Obtaining Publishing Information
Go to one of the following websites and do a title search for the song you want to record.  Once you find the correct title, click on it, and the publishing contact information will show up.  You will then need to call or email them for the proper forms.  You can find the correct songwriter of the song you want to record by looking at the bottom of the lyrics in your product.   The songwriter(s) is listed with the publishing company(s).

***OUR RECORDING PROGRAM HERE IN NASHVILLE IS CURRENTLY ON HOLD.  HOWEVER, YOU MAY STILL RECORD AT ANY STUDIO AS LONG AS YOU COMPLETE A LEASE AGREEMENT***

How can I find out more about the types of recordings I can do with Praise Hymn?
Praise Hymn offers many different packages for recording with our tracks when you choose to come and record in our studio.  Click here to get detailed information.

FOR MORE INFORMATION on recording, email us at phinfo@pmg-sonymusic.com

How can I pick the songs I want to record?
A 50% deposit is required. Once the deposit is received, you can choose up to 20 CDs from the Praise Hymn Music Group catalog for us to send to you to preview. These 20 CDs are yours to keep as part of the program.  This will give you a good idea about whether or not certain songs are the type of arrangement you are looking for.  We do ask that you bring the CDs when you come to record.

Can I record a duet, harmony or background vocals?
Absolutely. Keep in mind, however, that doing so may require extra studio time which is $50 every hour.

If I make a mistake in the middle of a song do I have to record the whole song all over again?
No. The great thing about studios is that you do not have to be perfect! We have the technology to record small sections of a song while leaving the surrounding areas untouched.

How long should I plan on being in Nashville for the process?
Generally speaking, two days. One day is spent at the studio recording your project. One day is spent meeting with the graphic designer fine tuning and insuring that your creative ideas for your album artwork have been captured.

Is there a particular hotel in which you recommend your clients to stay?
We have a number of different hotels that we have special artist arrangements with depending on your needs. Please contact us for more information.
